Why Should You Play?
First, there
is the obvious. If you challenge me, and win, you get a nice
prize--a
$1,000 bank check (US currency).
Occasionally there
may be
still other contests, with other
prizes.
The
specific prizes for each contest is described under the heading of
that particular contest. All contests will eventually result in
the prizes being awarded. In any contest, if there is a tremendous amount of
difficulty (which I certainly will do my part to guarantee), the clues
will simply become more and more obvious, until there is a winner.
The fact is that for every contest that I name, I
will reward the sleuth who beats me. Those are the material reasons for playing.
However, beyond the obvious and the tangible,
there are far more significant reasons to play. Not the least of which are the
passions of the hunt, the exhilaration of the battle. It is like
cerebral
one-on-one--you against me.
...And I am the best there is at
this. When you beat me, you have beaten the best. It's a little like
besting Michael Jordan in the playground.
In the end, you always win, of course.
Someone always wins my contests. But that's ok.
My pleasure comes in developing the Mind Games,
and putting their solution off as long as I can without getting bored. My
clues progressively lead you closer and closer to the truth. When I begin to sense
that a contest is getting into a bit of a funk, I shake it up. I detest boredom.
In the past, my longest contest lasted
over three years. That might seem a little long, but it was hot. The excitement was
peaking at just that time.
A third reason to accept my challenge is for
fame. Winners will have the honor of being listed in my Purplehunt's "Hall of
Fame" for the constant admiration of millions.
...Talk about your fifteen minutes of fame!
Well, are you ready to engage me?
Or, are you chicken?
