This is the much sought-after,
and and much traveled, $10 bill. Six times over the last
sixteen years this $10 bill has been hidden. Five times it has
been found-- once after 20 weeks, once
after 26 weeks, once fafter 130 weeks (2 1/2 years!), once
after 32 weeks,
and the last time it took over three years to find it.
Now, as of September 17th, 2008,
it is again hidden. Your challenge, if you are up to it, is to
find it. It has already been found five times before, and five people are $1,000.00 richer.
If you look at it closely, you
can see the signs of wear. The top of the bill is severely
degraded. In all instances, the top was most exposed to the
elements. ...And, in Michigan, the elements can be quite
degrading. You can also see a slight blue stain on the
top. That's because the last time I hid it, I coated it with
blue wax. It helped protect it, but it still obviously got wet.
On the left side of the bill,
you can see a serious rust stain from the steel pin around which it
was rolled. As you might suspect, the paper of the bill is
starting to get brittle from exposure. There is a vertical cut
on the right side, the result of a treasure hunter taking a razor
blade to it trying to remove it from the pin.
Each time I hid it, there
developed around that event, a bit of an adventure. Click here
