Bulletin: THE TREASURE HAS BEEN FOUND!!!!!DETAILS TO FOLLOW... Bulletin: It has been a while since last I published a clue for this contest. A number of very competent treasure hunters had expressed concern that the treasure had been inadvertently uncovered by some unsuspecting person; or that a bull dozer changed the landscape. Well, for the first time since I started these contests (1992), I went back to the "scene of the crime" to verify that the treasure was still there. I am happy to say that the treasure is still hidden in its original hiding place, fully intact, and waiting to be found. Originally, I stated that I would never return to a hiding place before the contest was successfully solved. But this treasure had been hidden longer than any in the past--I hid it in the Spring of 2001! I am happy to report that the hunt is still on, and that I will be publishing clues weekly, once again. To kick off this new aspect of the hunt, this week's clue will be published right here, right now. Are you ready? Here is a new clue: "Park your car, walk as far as George Clooney could toss a snowball, sit your butt, then a few more steps and you're there." Next week expect clues to be published on the regular web sites. Would you like to read about previous winners? Then go to the "list." Bulletin: Remember this: "What appears to be successful entries for contests #3 and #5 for the 2000 series have been received. The solutions were submitted by Fr. Terry Donahue. Once these solutions are verified (...And I must say they look pretty good right now), Fr. Donahue's submissions will be published in their entirety." Well, I just heard from Fr. Donahue and will be verifying his solution next week. Bulletin: Some time ago Contest number 2 was solved . "Jaylin" submitted his winning entry on 11-13-01 at 11:40 PM. To date, "Jaylin" has given me no information so that I can send him/her the prize of winning the contest. Bulletin: A new series of puzzles has begun (along with, of course, Treasure Hunt 2001). We have started with contest #2, the "Ancient Text Puzzle." Now we have added a new contest #4, the Impossible Puzzle. Because there are a limited number of clues for this new series, you may have to click on to a clue link a few times before one will come up. Also, remember that any one clue link can bring up only a limited number of clues, so you will have to try different clue links to find all the clues. Bulletin: Three of the seven puzzles of the March, 2000, remain unsolved -- they are puzzles 2,3 and 5. Those contests remain open until solved. All the clues for those contests are to be found at "Used Clues."
Note:
Want to play "Lalena"s" new, cool Color
Games? (Just For Fun) New Clue Agent: All seven clues for this week (4-28-2000) employ my "Agent." Get to know him, because you will be seeing him around quite a bit, I think. To access these clues, and to access my "Agent." you will need to download Microsoft's MSagent. This is a very neat addition to your browser. Many sites will soon be employing this technology, so I highly recommend you avail yourself of this free download immediately, especially if you are going to get clues off this site. It is a small file -- it takes only a couple minutes to load. Click on the icon below to activate your free Microsoft download. Once you have successfully downloaded the Microsoft MSagent core element, click here to test it. This page will automatically determine whether or not you need any additional elements (such as the script type) on your system. If you do, it will then download it for you as well. This whole program is from Microsoft, and is totally safe for your system, and free. (If you have trouble loading the clue pages for this week using Netscape, try it on Explorer, or go to the library and use their system.) New Game: New "Just For Fun" java game: "Hangman." Want to play? New Page: Would you like to read about the illusive $10 bill, which, if you should find it, is worth $1,000.00!! So far this $10 bill has been hidden four times, and has been found three. It is out there right now! Would you like to read the story behind this $10 bill? Would you like the details of the Treasure Hunt Contest, and perhaps win $1,000.00? Important Change: As of 12-12-99, winning contest solutions may be emailed. Solutions to the March 2000 series may be submitted to "puzzle03@purplehunt.com." All pertinent information required for correct solution for specific contest must be included with submission for it to be accepted. Winning entries may still be submitted via surface mail; however, the earliest email date and time will now be accepted for the three remaining contest of this current series. I have moved much of the content of earlier Update Pages to the "Overview." You can go there for important details of the contests. In the past I have always published the significance of each clue after the contest was solved. I will do that again. That should be useful to you in understanding how I think. As each puzzle is solved, and contest won, I will publish the meaning of each clue on the contest page. I will also announce the conclusion of that contest on this page. Some people had some questions regarding just what was intended by "Greater Grand Rapids Area," regarding the location of the $!,000 Treasure Hunt (Contest #1). The map below records the four previous treasure locations with red stars, and, more importantly, it contains the location of the current treasure hunt. Obviously, it is not (yet) identified with a red star. Hope this helps.
