HTML
Puzzle
(Contest # 6)
This puzzle has been
solved for 1999. We have already introduced a new "Html
Puzzle." Here is the contest and solution for the 1999 Html
Puzzle.

Mountain Mike's Latest
Cerebral
Challenge:
Hidden somewhere in the HTML of this site is
a puzzle.
All aspects of this puzzle are to be found in the html of this
site.
When you find it, you will know it.
The only clue is this: It is famous saying.
All you need to tell me is this:
1) What is the saying.
2) Who said it.
3) Where did you find it? (What
web page was it on?)
Ready for some Clues?
Solution:
"And for the Acts and Things
which independent States my of right do. And for the support
of this Declaration with a firm reliance on the protection of
Devine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our
Forturnes, and our sacred Honor."
It is an excerpt from
the Declaration of Independence. Therefore the author should
be Thomas Jefferson. And the location where I found it was in
the source code for tictacktoe.htm.
Kurt Meldrum
I think that Kurt did a particularly
nice job, in that the original "Tictacktoe" game on this
site (accessible from the drop-down menu), did not contain this
quote in the html. The link was to ../ticktacktoe/ticktacktoe.htm,
while the puzzle looked to ../ticktacktoe.htm. Good job,
Kurt!!!!!!!!!!
